The Wilton Hunt Club
The Wilton Hunt is renowned for its welcoming spirit, sense of community and active social calendar. Much of this is down to the activities of the Wilton Hunt Club which many say is the envy of its neighbours in terms of the support, and hence the funds, it attracts.
The Wilton Hunt Club exists to raise much-needed financial support for the Hunt and to act as the social fulcrum of the local hunting community. It is run by a very active committee that organises a host of activities – on and off horseback – for the enjoyment of hunt supporters.
Our biannual Auction of Promises is our major fund-raiser thanks to the generosity of donors offering stunning promises ranging from cliff-top holidays, to mouth watering meals and everything in between.
The End of Season supper is always a sell-out and gives everyone a chance to wind up the season over delicious food (cooked by the committee and friends) and a glass of wine. There is always hot competition to win prizes for the best fall of the season and the terrier men get their say on the Rear of the Year – say no more!
The Hunt Revue was a new addition to 2007 and was such a success it will remain an annual fixture until eternity. Picture grown men dressed as ballerinas (loving every minute!), hunt servants rapping, Dolly Parton’s boobs, synchronised swimmers and lots of blow-up dolls, and you can imagine an hilarious evening.
Regular annual activities include a drinks party at local houses, a not-to-be-missed Christmas Party at Salisbury Racecourse and our autumn hunter trial. Our 200 club is very active and is fast becoming a 300 club. We also run many one off events such as art shows and hog roasts and we are planning a Midsummer Ball in June 2009.
On top of this there are many Hunt activities that are not specifically run by the Hunt Club but are integral to the Hunt fund-raising and social calendar. These include the Summer Horse Show, the Puppy Show, a Dog Show and more hunter trials.
Membership of the Wilton Hunt Club is only £10 per family or £7 per adult and this ensures a place on our mailing list to receive regular newsletters and priority invitations to our events.
